October 25, 1999 - So where is everyone?
Well, I seem to have picked up whateverillness Joe has been sick with over the past couple of days. So,at 3:15 or so, I decided to not go food shopping but decided to make a"quick" trip out to the house. I figured I'd be home by 4PM, withplenty of time to decide what to make for dinner and lay down for a bit. Well, the only crew there when I got to the house was the landscapers. Of course, they wanted to show me the irrigation and talk about the plantsfor the front. (They also gave me a lot of info on who had been thereduring the day.) Well, then Dick, one of our neighbors, stopped byto chat. Just as we finished talking, the electrician stopped by. So I called Joe to see if he needed to talk to him about anything. Then, Joe got a call from our builder's assistant, who really needed totalk to the electrician. So my phone rings & it's a call forthe electrician. Then I talk to the assistant about other stuff. As I'm finishing up, another guy drives up & starts talking to thelandscapers. Ends up, it's the guy with the water purification companywe've selected. I finish with him and talk some more with the landscapers. Finally, as I'm getting into my car, the air conditioning crew show up.
My watch reads 5:55PM. Joe'salready called to tell me he's on the way home with the girls. Goodthing I have the number of a pizza place memorized... So much forbeing home around 4.
What you really want to hear: The
final inspection was scheduled for tomorrow. But since certaincrews
decided not to work (if you guessed "The Plumbers" you're correct!),the
inspection has been rescheduled for Wednesday. Assuming we passthe
inspection & get a Certificate of Occupancy then, we should beable
to close by Friday. Rub those lucky rabbit feet everyone!

All things considered, I think it's the black combined with the flashthat
causes pictures of my stove to look blurry.
Sub-contractor who worked today #1 - the Gas company who installed thestove |

I still think it looks like an offset flange, but our builder's assistantassures
me that she went out to check it (she doesn't trust the plumbers& actually
laughed at my plumber jokes).
Sub-contractor who worked today #2 - the Tile guys |

Boxes of door hardware and new bi-fold doors to replace the damagedones.
Sub-contractor who did *not* work today #1 - the Trim crew. But! They have a very good excuse - the hardware could not be delivered untilthis afternoon and they want to spend a full day at the house. Theyare scheduled to arrive first thing tomorrow. |

Sub-contractor who worked today #3 - the Landscaping guys. They'reinstalling the irrigation system as well as more mowing and levelling aroundthe driveway. |

What is missing from this pictures: 1) The pump; 2) The A/C unit.
Which means:
Sub-contractor who did *not* work today #2 - the A/C people. Sub-contractor who did *not* work today #3 - the Plumbers. (Theyclaim that they didn't want to wait on the tile to set so they could installthe toilet, so they left and promised to be back later.) Sub-contractor who did work today #4 - the Electrician. He worked, finished what he could, left, and then came back to meet with the A/C guysand Plumbers. (A/C crew showed up at 6PM: 2 hours after theElectrician left.) |
At the moment I'm waiting for Joe to get home. Inorder to speed things up even more, we were requested to fax a punch listto our builder's assistant AT HER HOME. (We're starting to thinkthat maybe it was a good idea our builder went on vacation and left thingsto her...) So I sent Joe to the house to create the punch list he'sbeen wanting to do for days. I'll type it up & try to fax itvia PC. Wish me luck!
